Christmas is coming and our shelves are getting fat!


As I write this post its only 81 days untill Christmas  - OMG as our teenager would say.
So have you started planning yet? We have!

I dont say that smugly in the sense that all my gifts are purchased and wrapped at the back of the wardrobe from last years january sales! No Peter and I are usually wrapping up little boxes at 2 am on Christmas Eve after we have closed the shop for the festive break.

But we have started planning for our customers. Indeed its only a week till half term when traditionally I start making the puddings to my Grandmas recipe and Diana, our new assistant will soon start baking Carribean Christmas cakes I cant wait to see them.

We have to admitt to being rather chuldlike about Christmas - its a guilty pleasure...and why not? The sparkly lights and the smells of all those lovely ingredients,cinnamon and spice wafting out of the kitchen; the increased buzz as people who only visit at Christmas are tempted across the threshold; the promise of excitement and anticipation about gifts soon to be purchased; the cellophane and ribbons - its literally a gastronomic feast of festiveness that transforms the Gastronomy Shop family into our eight year old selves bursting with positive optimism!!!!!
